In detail:
These horns of plenty (variety Cratellus cornucopiodes) come from the Balkans. Also known as Trumpet of Death, due to their dark brown to black color and characteristic shape, they abound in groups in autumn in humid deciduous forests. They are an excellent edible mushroom, with a very powerful aroma reminiscent of mirabelle plum. Their flesh retains a slightly crunchy consistency even after cooking. Recipes featuring rabbit, as well as pâtés, terrines, in carbonara, and in sauces make this mushroom famous worldwide and appreciated for its unique taste.
