Kagoshima
鹿児島県 · Kagoshima Prefecture · Kyushu Island, Japan

champion
Every five years, Japan's best wagyu compete at the All Japan Wagyu Beef Cattle Show — dubbed the "Wagyu Olympics". In 2017 and then in 2022, against 513 cattle from 39 prefectures, Kagoshima won the supreme title for two consecutive editions.
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award crowns this historic performance — a first in the competition's annals.
This double victory consecrates seven decades of patient genetic selection and places Kagoshima at the absolute pinnacle of Japanese wagyu hierarchy.
of Livestock
At the southern tip of Kyushu, bathed by the warm waters of the Pacific and dominated by the Sakurajima volcano, Kagoshima prefecture offers a terroir of exceptional richness. Mild subtropical climate, natural hot springs, volcanic pastures.
Known in Japan as the Kingdom of Livestock (畜産王国), Kagoshima is the country's leading prefecture in terms of cattle, pig, and poultry numbers.
It is here, in these fertile hills, that the modern history of Japanese wagyu has been written for over sixty years.

at its peak
Perfectly consistent marbling, distributed in fine lacing within deep red meat. Fine muscle fiber, superior marbling, absolute tenderness — the fruit of sixty years of genetic selection.
